Temperatures are getting colder as showers hit parts of the county, following a warning that snow could hit the UK in March. The Met Office has predicted that recent atmospheric events such as the Polar Vortex and Sudden Stratospheric Warming could bring very cold temperatures to places like Leeds.

The Met Office says Leeds can expect to see colder temperatures, with the first week of March being below average but not to exceptional levels.The Met Office forecast for Leeds says: "Another largely cloudy day with scattered showers continuing to move across the region. Temperatures around average or perhaps slightly below, and still feeling chilly in the breeze. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Temperatures will be as low as 5C in the early morning, rising to around 7C in the mid-afternoon. Showers are predicted throughout the day, with the highest chances between 11am and into the evening. Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: The Met Office forecast for the rest of the week says: "Little change expected with a good deal of cloud producing the occasional light shower. Best chance of sunny intervals on Friday.
