A little stranded for the second goal, but the goalkeeper could have arguably done better with Southampton's first and third efforts. Adam Armstrong shouldn't be able to chip over and then shoot through Meslier with such ease. 4Tormented by Kamaldeen Sulemana. Never knew when to press or when to drop off. Tied in knots. 3Not quite as shaky as some of his counterparts. Got the goal in the second half. Hardly inspired confidence though.
In the team for his leadership and organisation, but saw none of that as Southampton srreolled in for a second-minute opener. Never really got going and was run ragged at points. Looked slow off the mark. 3Had arguably been United's player of the month in September for his consistently high level, but looked miles off it in this one. Adam Armstrong had his number all afternoon. Looked shaky throughout. 3Overrun by Southampton's midfield three.
One of the perils of playing a nine in the 10 role when your two midfielders are overrun in the centre. Did not help in any way, shape or form, but is that what he was on the pitch for? Even when the ball did come his way in the box, his finished were fluffed, tame or non-existent. 3Miles away from the danger we saw in the last two games. Had one dribble of note. Didn't help Byram at all down that flank either, leaving the full-back exposed.
