Leeds United are missing a host of experienced players and it's costing the team despite some good performances so far
Alan Hansen was famously made to eat his words with the statement "you don't win anything with kids" as Manchester United proved. While it may have been proven that you can enjoy success with a youthful side, not every team boasts the Class of 92 or Sir Alex Ferguson as manager, so it's fair to say what youth need alongside them to thrive is a few old heads and a bit of inspiration.
"You are talking about the core of the team," explained Beckford when discussing the absentees. "Liam Cooper - leader. Stuart Dallas - leader. Patrick Bamford - leader. Summerville, exciting. There's lots of areas of that team which are missing that would help, with some of the youngsters in this starting XI especially.
Leeds will hope to have that injured trio back on the field over the coming weeks, but there's no doubting more experience is needed with the pressure on to secure new arrivals before he transfer window closes a week on Friday. Among those new arrivals, Beckford is hoping to see a striker arrive, given Bamford's injury problems and Willy Gnonto trying to orchestrate an exit.
