The 'last dose of summer' including high temperatures and sunshine begins today
While we usually would expect autumnal conditions at this time of year, the Met Office predicts it will "keep getting warmer". Forecasters predict Leeds and surrounding areas will see a dry and very warm day today, as well as sunny periods.
The news will be welcomed by many Britons underwhelmed by one of the wettest July months on record, followed by a mixed bag of sunshine and rain in August. Hours of sunshine and warm conditions commence today.
