Leeds residents have had their say
A survey of Leeds residents has shown that the majority of people do not feel safe in the city centre at night and most people are not proud of the centre either.
As a result, many have also said they do not feel proud of the city centre. A total of 67% said they were not proud.However, the results of the survey do show a number of improvements that could be made to change people's minds. For example, when asked what the biggest problem with Leeds city centre was, 41% said it was the lack of free parking.
Another 24% said a better range of shops would convince them and 21% felt a safer feeling environment was needed. When asked what things the centre needs more of, 45% said it needed more independent retailers and 27% said it needed more department stores.
