A Leeds chippy has huge cause for celebration today after making it to the final 10 of a prestigious fish and chip awards.
The Bearded Sailor in Pudsey is one of four Yorkshire eateries to have made it to the top ten shortlist for the Takeaway of the Year at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023. It joins Whiteheads Fish and Chips, in Hornsea; The Fish Bank, in Sherburn in Elmet; and Auckley Friery, in Doncaster. A rigorous judging process saw the top 20 whittled down to the top 10. The finalists will now be judged further by an anonymous panel of industry experts who will choose a top five, and then a top three.The winner of Takeaway of the Year will be announced at a ceremony on February 28 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London and the award will be presented by comedian Jason Manford.
