Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion Leandro Lo has died after being shot in the head.He was taken to hospital but declared brain-dead a few hours later.
According to local media, an off-duty military policeman has been arrested on suspicion of shooting the fighter.The altercation allegedly began after the suspect entered Lo's circle of friends and tried to provoke him by making threatening gestures with a glass bottle. It is claimed Lo subsequently immobilised him and the pair were broken up by onlookers just before the shooting happened.
