The NASUWT Teachers’ Union North Lanarkshire Secretary, claim they have 'raised repeated concerns' about the 'vulnerability of teachers to violence and verbal abuse from pupils'.

Officers were called to Coltness High School in Wishaw on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 5. The alarm was raised following reports of an alleged assault on campus. Police confirmed an investigation had been launched, reports the Wishaw Press.

A North Lanarkshire Council spokesperson insisted the local authority takes incidents like this, 'extremely seriously'.The said: “We can confirm that an incident took place at Coltness High School on Tuesday, September 5. We take such incidents extremely seriously and the school took immediate and appropriate action.

Motherwell and Wishaw MP Marion Fellows told Lanarkshire Live affirmed that incidents such as this are 'very serious' but stressed that they are also, 'extremely rare'.
