South Lanarkshire Council has been fined £90,000 for health and safety violations that led to the horrific incident that left the 38-year-old man with life-changing injuries.

The horrific incident unfolded as the 38-year-old and a workmate set up the equipment on the B7078 near junction 11, a court was told yesterday. When the man tried to clear debris from the machine with his gloved hand it was pulled inside and trapped.

They also accepted that they didn’t provide the necessary information, instruction, training and supervision.
