The recent cold weather has seen a number of rivers and ponds freeze over
A river in Lanarkshire has frozen over in sheets of ice leaving residents shocked as it has never been seen before to this extent.
The River Cart in Auldhouse is layered in multiple sheets of ice with jagged edges sticking up, unlike many of Glasgow's other bodies of water which have frozen over smoothly and seen a number of ice skaters visit. One local resident told Glasgow Live: "I've never seen this happen before in all my time living near to Auldhouse Park."Sign up to Glasgow Live newsletters for more headlines straight to your inbox
Earlier this week council workers were seen going round and breaking up the ice on Glasgow's ponds in an effort to stop locals from going out on to the frozen water. Fears surrounding frozen water have been intensified following the death of four children near Solihull.
