Robert Kessel will not be declared fit to fly home until his medical bill is paid
A Lanarkshire pensioner spent Christmas Day alone in an intensive care unit in a hospital in Thailand.
He spent two weeks fighting for his life while unconscious on a ventilator after suffering from an acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease . The pensioner battled back from the brink of death and was taken off of his ventilator last week, reports the Daily Record.But he was forced to spend Christmas Day alone in ICU after coronavirus restrictions prevented Rose, who he had been visiting, from entering his hospital room.
Linda said: "Rob was in hospital unconscious and on a ventilator. The doctors said he was probably going to pass away. She has now set up a fundraising page to help pay for the army veteran to come home, and has reached out to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity in the hopes he will be eligible for some financial support.
