Police are appealing for witnesses following a spate of criminal damage.

Youths have been seen climbing into a community garden where people ‘take a lot of pride in the garden area’. A number of incidents of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour at the Community Gardens in Cotgrave has been reported to Rushcliffe South Police.

The Community Gardens, on Woodview tend to be locked in the evenings, however locals have spotted youths climbing into the gardens and they say ‘it’s sad’. Resident Sandra Tinker, told Nottinghamshire Live that anti-social behaviour tends to happen around Cotgrave. The 55-year-old said: “It’s bored kids doing things they shouldn’t. I heard about it, it’s just kids they tend to be about 10-14 years old, it’s sad. I read about the gardens this morning, it doesn’t surprise me. I keep hearing a lot of things about it in Cotgrave. I think they’ve nothing to do. It feels there’s something different going on in Cotgrave. I’m just going by hear say. I think they take a lot of pride in the garden - they’ve got gates they lock and for them to climb over, it’s sad.

Adam McGlen, has witnessed the youths entering the gardens. The 28-year-old said: “I saw the kids climbing out of there, it would have been last Wednesday. I just saw them climb.”Another local resident who gave the name Amy, told Nottinghamshire Live that it’s a nightmare. The 36-year-old said: “I see them go through, they go through the fence. It’s at certain times, around six. I only see them climbing in, they do probably leave all the rubbish.

“These incidents are believed to be happening in the evening or during the night despite the gardens being locked during these times. Extra patrols are being conducted by local officers in this area and anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote crime number 22000390880.”
