KSI vs Joe Fournier result officially overturned following elbow knockout
KSI's KO of Fournier came via an elbowCredit: Leigh Dawney/Misfits BoxingFournier backed off as a result, but KSI pursued him and went to throw a right hook.
However, he missed with the hook and instead followed through to land an elbow on his opponent, which sent him crashing to the canvas. The referee did not appear to see this though as it happened in a flash and so Fournier was counted out and KSI was intially awarded the win.In the aftermath, Fournier made it clear that he intended to appeal and on Monday he did exactly that.
Now, on Friday, the PBA have made their official ruling and issued a resolution which sees the result ruled out - it will no longer stand on either man's record as a win or a loss. Their statement read: "Today, on 19th May 2023 Mr Joe Fournier and KSI were advised of a ‘Reviewed Decision’ that was undertaken by Mr Gareth Morris, the referee in charge of the bout on Saturday 13"Mr Fournier had submitted a protest and KSI responded following KSI’s Technical Knockout win in the second round of the fight.
