The most ridiculous excuse ... 🤦♂️
Police officers often find themselves at the receiving end of a litany of excuses for unlawful behaviour — but for one Manchester City Centre cop there was a unique one to add to his catalogue. . . magic.
The city police's transport unit officer who stopped and searched a man at the Victoria Metrolink station on Tuesday evening as part of Operation Sceptre's knife crime patrol found a lock knife in his pocket. Operation Sceptre is a national initiative that takes place twice a year. It aims to reduce knife crime by targeting those carrying weapons, disrupting the supply of knives, raising awareness of the dangers of knife crime and providing young people with alternatives to crime.
In a lighthearted tweet posted on social media at 10:12pm on Tuesday night, the officer stated: "You like magic? This trainee wizard does. . . GMP Transport Unit searched this male on Victoria MCR Metrolink station tonight whilst conducting an Operation Sceptre knife crime patrol and found a lock knife in his trousers. His reply? 'It must have got there by magic.' Nice try Gandalf.
