Here's a look back at King Charles' highs and lows of his first year as the British monarch ahead of the one year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's death on September 8.
King Charles has announced the end of the “transitional year” for the royal family, signalling towards a new era in the lead-up to the one year anniversary of the late Queen Elizabeth II's death on September 8.
A programme has been designed for Charles, 74, to be supported by the Prince and Princess of Wales as they finally look to expand their work around the world on behalf of the British monarchy, the Mirror reports. Instead, Germany became their historic first destination, which was originally meant to be the second leg of the trip.
A source said: “There is very much a feeling of collaboration between the working royals that will be a key part of any future successes.” Over a decade ago, the then Prince of Wales was putting the plans together for less working members of 'the Firm' to be involved. In an interview before Charles' Coronation earlier this year, she said: “It doesn’t sound like a good idea from where I’m standing.”
The trouble with Harry Despite Charles' efforts to bring his younger son back into the family fold, the Duke of Sussex has not accepted his father's invites to spend the festive and summer holidays with the royal family. The monarch invited the Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who he still lives with, up to Balmoral last month, with the image of the shamed royal being driven to church by Prince William marking a huge shift in public affairs.
