Khabib trashes Charles Oliveira's ground game ahead of UFC 280 fight with his prodigy
UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov believes his teammate and friend Islam Makhachev is going to dominate Charles Oliveira on the floor this weekend.at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night.Ahead of the intriguing match-up, a lot of people have been wondering how Makhachev’s elite-level wrestling will match up against the slick submission skills possessed by ‘Do Bronx’.
However, Khabib believes that when the fight hits the floor, it’s going to be a mismatch in his teammate’s favour and claims Oliveira’s previous defeats prove his point. “This is what Islam is gonna do with Charles Olivera: he’s gonna ride him, how you ride your horse. Save this video because a lot of people underestimate Islam,” Nurmagomedov said ahead of UFC 280.“They think Charles Oliveira has a ground game. He doesn’t have a ground game. If you tap eight times in UFC, how can you say you have a ground game? You tapped eight times.”
During his 12-year UFC career, the former lightweight champion – who lost his title on the scale ahead of– has suffered eight defeats but not all of them came by submission as Nurmagomedov suggests. In fact, Oliveira has only tapped out three times. The first was when he was caught by a Jim Miller kneebar at UFC 124 in 2010. Since then, he’s been submitted by Ricardo Lamas and Anthony Pettis who submitted him in guillotine chokes in 2016.
