My government will equip our country with the skills we need to capture the benefits of new technologies, to generate jobs in communities all over the country, and to give young people skills and pride in their jobs, for life. I don’t see the transition to net zero as a challenge to overcome. It is an opportunity to grab with both hands.
I spend a lot of time travelling around the country. Contrary to what the Conservatives tell you, business leaders don’t tell me the problems they face will be solved by fiddling with tax cuts. They tell me they want highly skilled workforces, fair taxes, and the long-term confidence to invest. A Labour government will make this a reality.
Like many parents, I am filled with awe as my two children grow into bright, inquisitive young people. As they grapple with life-changing decisions, I am driven to make sure we not only build a bright future for our young people, but that we equip them properly to navigate and maximise it.
