When someone believes they cannot speak in public or has taken their lack of knowledge in doing so as evidence of a shortcoming in their own character or brain, that should be seen as a grievous failure of education 🖋️ wallaceme for ipaperviews

. The activists behind him unrolled their banner and started calling on the Labour leader to stop U-turning on major policy pledges just as he pitched his plan to “raise the importance of speaking skills” and help children “find their voice”.

In the event, he dealt with them in a calm, slightly plaintive manner – helped by the fact that the protesters themselves seemed surprised to have been shepherded onto the stage as his human backdrop.
