Although it’s unlikely a fee for this transfer will be released, the Watford Observer understands the Hornets will recoup most of what they paid.The writing was probably on the wall for Okoye earlier in the summer when he wasn’t given a squad number for the 23/24 season. He played 31 times for Sparta the season before moving to Vicarage Road, and had 16 caps for his country.
Okoye was on the bench regularly up until the World Cup break, but when the league season resumed in December he was only named in the matchday squad four more times with Ben Hamer becoming the back-up keeper.
