The series moves to Chapel Hill the following year, with the second meeting set for Nov. 14, 2025, at the Dean E. Smith Center.The home-and-home will mark just the second meeting between the two programs at Allen Fieldhouse and the first at the Dean E. Smith — who retired as the winningest coach in men’s college basketball history — played under Phog Allen at KU, before creating his own legacy in Chapel Hill. That legacy includes mentoring both Brown, who won the 1988 national title at Kansas, and Williams, who got his coaching start in Lawrence before returning to his alma mater in 2003 and winning three titles of his own.
Kansas is first all-time in wins and third in winning percentage; UNC is second in winning percentage and third in wins. Combined, the two programs have produced 22 National Player of the Year awards and 131 First-Team All-American honors. It’s almost a cartoonish match of college hoops heavyweights, and the fact that these meetings have been somewhat scarce historically only enhances the wow factor.
