Ex-Tottenham striker believes Harry Kane will only thrive off competition from Man City's Erling Haaland THFC MCFC
Kane has had a strong start to the season, scoring ten times in 14 appearances in all competitions so far this seasonKane is currently on nine goals in 10 league appearances this season, whilst his Man City counterpart is on a whopping 15.
The Spurs striker’s tally is nine goals up on his tally of just one goal after the same amount of games last campaign already – but the 22-year-old has stolen his thunder.And Kane’s goalscoring surge could be, in part, be due to him wanting to keep up with Haaland, reckons ex-Spurs, Man United and England forward Sheringham.
“He won’t be happy Haaland is taking the limelight and everyone saying he’s the best centre-forward in the country,” Sheringham told talkSPORT Breakfast. “Harry Kane will want to score goals for Tottenham first of all, then he’ll get to the World Cup and he’ll want to win the Golden Boot, then he’ll come back and want to win the Golden Boot back in the Premier League.
“He’s a goalscorer and that’s what he does. He will not want to be resting, he’ll want to be scoring goals, for as long as that can continue he’ll continue, that’s what he does.”
