Had anyone in the Truss entourage been attentive, three days before the Chancellor’s mini-Budget they might have spotted theI am sick and tired of trickle-down economics. It has never worked.Mr Biden argued that the fiscal approach favoured by Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher “has never worked”. In remarks at a Cabinet meeting, he argued trickle-down proposals disproportionately benefit the wealthy, saying: “I find that the trickle stops fairly quickly coming down.”
All of that presaged this week’s stunning rebuke of the Chancellor’s mini-Budget from the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund , just half a mile away from the Oval Office.
