Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher made the claim on Monday Night Football
Jamie Carragher has labelled James Maddison the most influential player in the Premier League so far this season.
The England international arrived at the club earlier this summer from Leicester City in a £45million transfer after his old side were relegated to the Sky Bet Championship last season. Maddison has featured in every one of Spurs' Premier League matches since the beginning of the new season, returning five assists.
The former centre-back then continued: "He has come in and taken the No 10, Harry Kane's shirt, possibly the greatest player to have played for Tottenham. I think at one stage early on, he had the captain's armband on. Asked by Carragher if he is right to describe him as the Premier League's most influential player this season, Maddison replied: "That's the aim. It's big praise, but I appreciate it.
