James Garner was speaking following Everton's 3-0 Premier League win over Bournemouth at Goodison Park
James Garner has spoken of the importance of Everton picking up their first home win of the season and revealed the simple pre-match message from Sean Dyche.
Sean Dyche's side had suffered four consecutive defeats on their own pitch, partly because of poor finishing, but on Saturday they put that right with well-taken goals. But, in truth, they should have scored more than three against the Cherries.READ MORE: Sean Dyche fumes at Everton decision as Wayne Rooney and Duncan Ferguson loyalties clear
“There was no panic at all because we’ve been playing very well at home. If you watched those games, we created so many chances and so many big chances. “Just play how I’ve been playing and keep being me,” Garner revealed when asked what his boss said before the game. “On the defensive side: press high.
It was the type of display that further demonstrated why so many Manchester United supporters were bitterly disappointed when he was allowed to leave Old Trafford and join Everton. “The main thing for me is that it comes naturally. I just like playing in the centre of the park. Whether that’s six, eight or 10 I’m not too fussed."
