The decorations, which featured heartfelt messages to those who have passed away, were torn down and destroyed.
Reverend William Boyle, of Port Glasgow New Parish, has spoken out after hand-made baubles that congregation members had attached to the church's fence in memory of lost loved ones were smashed.
"It lasted less than a day. It's really upsetting, anti-social behaviour is one thing, but this is a whole different level. It has proved popular with the local community and the gate was covered in tributes by New Year's Eve last year.He added:"It's really demoralising, we're open every day now trying to be a community church that's about more than a Sunday service.
