According to Tripadvisor, one beautiful island town not far from Glasgow has just been named in a list of the 'most popular travel destinations' for August - ideal for a day trip.

With the summer weather beginning to return , many people are beginning to think about wee day trips or even a weekend away.

The team said: "Here in the UK, coastal trips are trending from Cornwall all the way up to the Isle of Arran. Brodick on the Isle of Arran, was named at number six on the list, which you can get to by driving or getting the train to Ardrossan, where you can get a ferry across to the island.Enjoy a visit to the magnificent Brodick Castle, surrounded by its beautiful gardens and country park with its excellent exhibitions and tours.
