Inside the huge new FREE exhibition celebrating Gruffalo, Zog and Stick Man creators that families are going to love
This is the major new exhibiton celebrating all of the children's books of Zog, Gruffalo and Stick Man creators Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. It is set to delight families across the summer holidays at The Lowry at Salford Quays.
There's also chance to view video clips of the famous adaptations for the BBC that have become Christmas staples in recent years, like the Highway Rat, Stick Man and most recently The Smeds and The Smoos. They are displayed alongside Axel Scheffler’s original artwork, showing the process of his illustrations from sketches and works in progress, to full page final illustrations that readers are familiar with seeing in the finished books.
The stories with an aquatic theme, like Tiddler and Snail and the Whale, are celebrated in a cylindrical lobster-cage style set up inside the exhibition with cute beanie chairs in the shapes of marine life. There's more time to chill out and read for visitors heading into the home of Charlie Cook at the end of the exhibition.
