A man has been charged with the murder of Donald Prentice Patience
An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of a man found after a 'dog-napping' report was made to police.
A man has been charged with his murder and a trial date has been fixed for next year, the brief hearing at Rochdale Coroner's Court heard on Monday.Police coroner's officer, Kathy Dixon, said a 'passer-by' saw an 'unknown man' coming out of Mr Patience's home 'with his dog' on the day and alerted police.Ms Dixon said Mr Patience's body was subsequently discovered inside and paramedics went on to 'diagnose his death'.
Mr Patience was born in Inverness, Scotland, and was described at the inquest as a divorced estate agent. In a tribute issued through Greater Manchester Police, Mr Patience's family said he was a 'much-loved son, brother and father and will be sorely missed by many, affectionately known as Prentice'.The inquest heard he appeared at Manchester and Salford magistrates court on August 26 and was remanded in custody.
