A 'global concern'

The 'Screen Time at Age 1 Year and Communication and Problem-Solving Developmental Delay at 2 and 4 Years' study has been published in the medical journal, JAMA Pediatrics.

, 1.7 times more likely to have undeveloped fine motor skills and twice as likely to have underdeveloped personal and social skills.Dr. John Hutton, from paediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center told CNN that delays in development could be due to kids not having the opportunity to practice talking as much due to the screens and added that the results of the study were a 'global concern'.

The researchers said each area of development should be analysed separately and in more detail to understand the links between screen time and development further.Researchers from Tohoku University, Japan, looked at over 7,000 mothers and their children, around half of which were boys and half girls.
