Mother of two Yusra Alshanti was evacuated to Egypt from Gaza – she claims her family has been ‘thrown on to the street’ as they wait for a UK visaThe father of a pregnant British mother claims his daughter is “totally stuck” in Egypt after UK officials failed to provide her Palestinian husband with humanitarian protection.
“It is madness,” Dr Al-Shanti said. “It is the responsibility to organise everything, that is why they were evacuated to begin with. They have not fulfilled their promise.” Dr Al-Shanti claims his daughter’s health is becoming an increasing concern. She has gone five weeks without a scan, Dr Al-Shanti told, and has lost several kilos since Gaza was largely cut off from food and water supplies a few weeks ago.Speaking about her daughter, Dr Al-Shanti said: “She is totally frustrated. She told me the other day, ‘I wish I was never evacuated from Gaza’.”
