Sofia and Alyssia enjoyed their elf this year, though it was a lot of pressure on mum Nicole Ratcliffe Some parents have given up all together. Sarah Henson, 42, from Somerset, admits sending her elf back to the North Pole due to a “present emergency” just so she could reclaim her evenings, while Rachael Wiseman, 33, from Newcastle, has outright refused to start the trend with her three-year-old.
“My eldest, Sofia, six, was holding back the tears because she thought the elf had lost his magic,” she admits. “I had to quickly google how to get it back, and found a post saying that if you sprinkle cinnamon next to him and sing ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ it will be restored. Sofia also wrote him a note apologising for her little sister, and thankfully they were convinced it had worked in the morning when the elf was back to his usual antics.
