Zara said: 'If I can do it for myself, I can do it for anyone else'

A woman who set up her own fashion business in lockdown never expected to get where she is today as it "all happened so quickly".

Zara explained she has always loved fashion and would always wear something different to everyone else when growing up - as well as always shopping at charity shops. When she was 16 she bought her first sewing machine off eBay for £25 and began experimenting. From the money Zara made selling facemasks, she purchased a better sewing machine and carried on making face masks and also scrunchies for a little while. She added: “After that, I just thought ‘I’m just going to try and make some clothes’.

“I get most of my fabrics online as I have particular websites I love and I go to local shops in Liverpool. As I am an eco-conscious brand, I also have a huge selection of deadstock fabrics which means they won't be reproduced by the supplier or resold as otherwise they would end up in landfill so I take those to make more exclusive designs.
