Georgia Hoad says her baby appeared happy and healthy at first
From the moment doctors removed the tubes and wires from his tiny body, Georgia Hoad knew she had just minutes left with her son.
But not long after he settled in, the newborn fell ill with suspected jaundice, which is the yellowing of the skin indicating an underlying health problem with the liver. As his health deteriorated, the tot developed haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH, an immune deficiency disorder. A few days before he passed away, Georgia and Saul were told Hudson would not survive much longer. He was struggling to breathe as oxygen was not travelling around his body properly.“It turned our lives upside down,” Georgia added. “It shouldn’t have happened.“Everyone is devastated. It’s just heartbreaking; when he passed, I even carried him down to the bereavement centre myself.“I was the stronger one and now I just keep crying.
