With Scots looking for scenic spots to enjoy the recent good weather, Tourism Writer Alexander Smail spent a day in North Berwick, which was recently named the country's top seaside spot.
People across Scotland are looking to make the most of the unexpected burst of good weather, and luckily, there's an endless list of pretty places to visit.
Upon arriving, my first destination was the harbour so that I could get a glimpse of the ocean views I had heard so much about. With a cappuccino from stylish local-favourite Steampunk Coffee in hand, I made my way over. While walking around the harbour, I came across Jodie Burgess, 43, who runs local paddlesports business Sea Beyond. As she set up for the day, she told me a bit about what it was like to have worked in North Berwick for eight years — describing it as "lovely" and singling out its "vibe and atmosphere".
He told me: "We're trying to engage with fun, trying to get people into it and segue into things like conservation. All of this is trying to engage people's minds, so that they just think more about it." Inside, I caught up with manager Dino Cucchi, 60, who told me that his family have been in North Berwick for 50 years. When I asked him why the restaurant is so popular, he explained: "We give the people the freshest stuff that we've got and all local produce."
