A Liverpool restaurant is serving up steaks so cheap, the venue claim they're not making money from them.
I forced my partner to tag along to what was a free steak dinner in his eyes but there was little persuasion needed on that front. We were both excited to see what the world-famous Hawksmoor had in store for us but before we were even seated, we were blown away by the gorgeous building. The standard procedure is starter, main and dessert, unless you prefer to deprive yourself of life's small joys. I too rounded the meal with a beginning and an end though there was no shortage of delicious options to choose from. Torn between the Scotch bonnet oysters and the Smoked mackerel salad , my decision was broken after my partner decided to get both and share.
The mackerel salad was peppery and smooth with equal amounts of fish and potatoes. It was a delicious start to prepare yourself for the main event, but even now thinking back on them, the oysters knocked it out of the park. I requested a medium-rare steak accompanied by bone marrow gravy, my partner opted for a rare with porcini hollandaise. Juggling every possibility of what would be delivered, my expectations pointed to a flat slab of meat that was more fat than substance.
