"Until the pilot managed to stabilise the plane, it was like a roller coaster."
The captain told horrified passengers that the plane was being pelted by winds reaching 130km/hr that were making it impossible to land. Eventually after two failed attempts to land at Palma the captain turned the plane around and headed back to Alicante. Esta's ordeal comes as a Brit family told how they had to run for their lives with three screaming children amid 75mph on Majorca during the storm.
Newly-engaged Jessica Gorman, on holiday with Scott Goodall and their children, said: "It was so windy, I felt like the the pram was moving side to side… it was horrendous."
