Halloween is almost here, but what bargain retailer is helping you to stock up for the spooky season for less?
It's nearing the end of October and the evenings are starting to get that bit darker, which can only mean one thing - Halloween is almost upon us.
Nevertheless, I would much prefer my scares to be more superficial than related to my bank account, which is exactly why I decided to head out to two popular bargain retailer's to see what they had on offer - Poundland and B&M. When it comes to seasonal ranges, this high street discounter usually knocks it out of the park with what it has to offer. I guess the same could be said for this year - if you're shopping for Christmas. That's because the retailer's Halloween range had been relegated to a small end of one shelf, while its range of festive gift sets and decorations made up nearly two full aisles. That alone was a bit frustrating, but I respect we are near the end of October.
Some of the highlights I found were the £3.50 Jumbo Spider Web that could be popped along a fireplace or a doorway and Holographic Ghost Balloons that were more adorable than scary for £2.50.Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages. Its Halloween collection was immediately recognisable with its black and orange advertisements and colour scheme, which is something we have all come to associate with the spooky holiday. However, unlike B&M's range, Poundland's also had a mixture of autumn themed decorations, such as pumpkin spice candles and pumpkin themed ornaments.
What was really interesting, was that I was only able to get one more item in Poundland to make up the budget. Considering its name, you'd think I would be able to get a whole host more, but there were still a lot of items that were on par with B&M's larger prices.
