Kati Hall feels that sustainability can easily fall to the bottom of firms' list but it should be more important
“Working at a company without a meaningful plan to reduce its environmental impact is a no-go for many job seekers,” said Mark Sait, founder of SaveMoneyCutCarbon.
“This meant I had to go on universal credit because I wasn’t earning enough while I was finding my feet. I had the savings but I’d already spent a fair bit on the course, so I needed some help getting started.” As a sustainability consultant, she helps companies – like her former employer – become more environmentally efficient. Her workshops range from “the basics of climate 101” to the practical ways companies can do what they do more sustainably.
Research the company and look out for initiatives that are related to sustainability. Check to see if the business has any certifications, such as being a certified B corps, that reflects that they balance profit and purpose, according to Sarah Burrows, a career coach from Achieving Ambition.
