Cristiano Ronaldo says he would always call Ralf Rangnick ‘boss’, but never viewed the German that way during his time at Manchester United.
Rangnick had managed 12 different teams over a 38-year managerial career prior to being appointed Man United’s interim boss following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season.AdvertisementIn the explosive interview Ronaldo said he didn’t understand the appointment of Rangnick, and even claimed he hadn’t heard of him.
“But deep inside me, I never saw him as the boss because I saw some points that I never agreed with and he’s stopping the time as well because if you’re not being a coach, then the next five years you’re going to lose the identity of, to be a coach, so it surprised me a lot. “But in the same way it doesn’t surprise me a lot because if you see the structures, they keep them the same. So the coaches didn’t surprise me but, it was a tough moment, not only for me, but for the rest of the players.”
Ronaldo added: “I don’t know what’s going on, but since Sir Alex Ferguson left I saw no evolution in the club, the progress was zero.
