Iranian schoolgirls are being poisoned in “deliberate” attacks by the regime in order to silence recent protests against the government, activists have suggested after a spate of mysterious incidents across the country JessieWill5 reports:

A series of mysterious incidents has seen schoolgirls suffering from dizziness and nausea at various locations across Iran, which activists say is a ‘deliberate’ targeting from authorities

The majority of the affected schools are girls’ schools in major cities, including Tehran, Qom, Sari, Ardabil, Boroujerd, Torbat Jam, and Qoochan. The first reported attacks happened in the holy city of Qom in November, but in the last few days 26 more schools were attacked, according to the Center for Human Rights in Iran.

. Others believe they could be the work of hardline groups which oppose girls’ education that have been allowed to flourish under the conservative government.: “Certainly [the attacks are] deliberate. The exact intent is not clear yet.”, with girls refusing to wear the hijab, joining marches, chanting anti-regime slogans, and heckling senior paramilitary officials when they came to give propaganda speeches on campus.

“The fact that these attacks suddenly happened on schoolgirls at this time, gives a lot of weight to the fact that whoever is doing them is trying to get school girls to stop protesting.”
