The inside track on the football stories that matter
Rangers were comfortable winners at the SMiSA Stadium with a 3-0 victory on Sunday , despite going into the game three points behind the Saints.
A loss would have seen the managerless Gers drop six points behind St Mirren going into the international break which would have been a double blow after their uninspiring Europa League defeat to Aris Limassol just days before. When asked if the victory of the Saints will give the squad a big boost moving into the international break and upcoming fixtures.
St Mirren at the end of the day were above them in the league. I think after the Limassol performance, which was a tough watch, you were thinking if St Mirren could keep them quiet you never know what could happen. But Rangers stuck with it, some decent goals, I thought Tavernier did well. I think he gets a lot of stick that can sometimes be unfair. I think in big moments he always turns up and he proved that once again.
