It has been a long-running battle
More than 300 homes are planned in a Nottinghamshire area after a years-long battle. Barratt and David Wilson Homes have shared their plans to build 322 properties as part of a brand-new housing development at a 33.35-acre site in Beck Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, known as The Hawthorns.
The site was previously subject to controversy, as outline plans were rejected by Ashfield District Council in 2018 over concerns about "sustainability", transport infrastructure and issues surrounding local services. However, developers behind the scheme launched an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate, hitting out at the decision, leading to it being reversed in 2019.
