The scams have been attempting to lure people to purchase items online at significantly reduced rates from websites that look similar to the official Wilko site
Several fake websites have been set up pretending to be Wilko, offering items for large discounts. However, Wilko has stopped selling goods online and is no longer offering home delivery or click and collect services – it is only selling in-store.
“We have been made aware of a number of fake Wilko websites which are offering Wilko products at heavily discounted prices,” a PwC spokesperson said. “We are in the process of working with the relevant authorities to have these websites removed. We would like to remind our customers that all Wilko sales are now in-store and you are unable to purchase items online.”Scam websites use stolen images to appear official and will often accept orders and process payments, but either never deliver the goods, or send cheap imitations.
The padlock icon at the beginning of the search bar indicated a secure connection and should be there on legitimate sites. However, it is not a 100 per cent indicator that you are in the right place.
