Carving pumpkins is a Halloween traditional for many but the task can be a tricky one.
Halloween is just around the corner meaning many will be purchasing pumpkins to carve for some spooky fun.
The Manchester Evening News spoke to a professional of all things Halloween, Christian Russell from All Carved Out. During his two-day stint at Wigan's Roby Mill Pumpkin Patch this week, the expert turned his hand to turning squashes of all shapes and sizes into perfect jack o' lanterns. - Scoop out the inside using a sturdy metal ice cream scoop. Make sure you get it all out for a neater finish and to prevent it going mouldy
- If you're carving a few days before Halloween then try to incorporate 'support pillars' into the mouth shape to stop it from collapsing too soon. If the mouth is severed in one go all the way across, it will start to cave in within a couple of days
