His escape from the facility on Wednesday sparked a major search operation spanning the country

involving more than 150 police officers, public appeals, extra security at border points and a £20,000 reward.in relation to terrorism and Official Secrets Act offences, including preparing an act of terrorsim and collecting information useful to an enemy.

The lorry left the prison premises at 7.32am via a gate onto Heathfield Road. Khalife is declared missing at 7.50am, according to the Met. At 3.30pm, eight hours after the escape, the Met issued a public appeal for help with a photo and description of Khalife. There were suggestions he may have had help from inside the prison to make his escape. Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley told broadcaster LBC the force is exploring the possibility the former soldier was helped by other prisoners or guards.

A man is stopped by police at Banbury train station in Oxfordshire but it turned out not to be Khalife.An overnight search into Friday morning was carried out of Richmond Park in South West London. It had emerged the former Royal Signals serviceman grew up nearby, his mother and sister lived in a flat on the outskirts of the park until recently.
