Mr Wilkinson’s son Tony joined the company in 1960 and took over as chairman in 1972, before he was succeeded by his daughter, Lisa Wilkinson, and his niece, Karin Swann. Ms Swann sold her family’s 50 per cent holding in the company to Ms Wilkinson in 2014. The company changed its name to Wilkinson Hardware Stores in 1941, before rebranding as Wilko in 2014.
