Soon after, Dr Brearey called a meeting with the unit manager, Eirian Powell, and the hospital’s director of nursing, Alison Kelly. They found that Letby had been on shift at the time of all three deaths, but no-one suspected foul play. By this point seven consultants were calling for Letby to be removed, but Ms Rees refused, Dr Brearey claimed.
