They have spent five years working on the hidden garden feature

A 'secret' underground cavern which has been in the making for five years has now been uncovered - but it may soon be demolished.

The Ainsdale resident is now scrambling for last-minute approval from the council as an application for retrospective permission for the cavern has been made. According to documents submitted to Sefton Council as part of the planning application, work began on the unique development back in 2018. Another photograph shows work in progress on the design with a large open hole sitting to the left of the bridge. Another walkway across the hole in the ground is depicted with construction materials piled up on the patio area beyond.

A drawing submitted as part of the application shows close to the archway there are a series of steps leading down to a passageway and into the underground cavern, which sits just beyond the pond.
