Holidaymakers have criticised airlines and tour operators over a lack of clarity as they risk losing thousands of pounds if they cancel trips to wildfire-ravaged Rhodes in the next few weeks joeduggan1 reports
One holidaymaker toldshe was being “held to ransom” by tour operators after she tried to change her £5,000 trip to the Greek island next month.
“To the travel firms, a week may seem a long way away, but it’s not a long way away if you’re a family of four organising yourself. “It’s peak summer holiday season, people will have paid a lot for those flights – there is a risk of losing a considerable amount of money.” Last month, the Government published new proposals to improve protection for passengers with stronger enforcement powers for industry regulator the Civil Aviation Authority .no airline has been fined for breaching consumer law in the past 20 years.
It has also cancelled and refunded all holidays to Gennadi, Kiatori and Lahania, but holidays to the north of Rhodes can currently go ahead as planned, it added.
