'I am disgusted with myself'
A homeless man stabbed a fellow rough sleeper in a shop doorway after claiming he had been 'badmouthing' him.
Mr Ho suffered a cut to his neck and two defensive wounds to his hand, which required hospital treatment. However the day after the attack, the pair, who had been friends, were sitting together sharing a vape in Lancaster city centre. Mr Ho did not give a statement and has since left the area, the court heard. Explaining his actions, Roberts, of no fixed address, said he believed Mr Ho had been telling others he was responsible for the theft of some drugs money, and was worried there could be dangerous consequences to the rumour, which he said was not true.
Roberts was remanded in custody, where he has remained ever since. He told the court during his time in prison he has focused on turning his life around and has completed a number of courses to attain enhanced prisoner status. He said: "I had been in a bad place in my life. I was homeless and was struggling with my mental health. Since being in prison I have learned the meaning of life. I have developed a strong mindset which will help me in the community.
